The Okabe Foundation Inc. is a community-based organization that is focused on the development of the communities in SERERE District which was an initiative of the area member of parliament of the Late Patrick Okabe but managed by the local people of Serere for addressing the challenges in the rural community. The organization was formed in 2021 as a response to the socio-economic needs of the community of Serere District which is a home for thousands of people and generally endowed with a lot of resources and brilliant people who have always worked hard to shape the development of the area into its current status. The county has suffered for long due to poor community-based representation and little opportunities in leadership empowerment in influencing and motivating the local community to participate in locality development. The late Patrick Okabe pulled together a team of resourceful persons to develop a unique development strategy that focuses on building a village-based strategy with an inclusive approach to development. Basically, the approach seeks to have initial human resource base of 100 people per village as a minimum team to champion development and those will inspire others until everyone in the village becomes part of the bigger team.
